Dr Fiona Bailey
BDS, FICD
With more than 30 years' experience in dentistry, Dr Fiona Bailey is passionate about helping patients feel comfortable, informed and confident in their dental care.
After graduating from the University of Otago in 1990, Fiona spent a year at Waikato Hospital before gaining experience in group practices in Cambridge (England), Hamilton and Auckland. Born and raised in Hamilton, she returned home permanently in 2006 and worked at both Hillcrest Dental Centre and Rototuna Dental. Some patients may also remember Fiona from her time filling in for Margaret Thomson at Relax Dental or for Dr Zaf Khouri here at Dental Excellence.
In July 2013, Fiona purchased Dental Excellence and has continued to build on the practice's long-standing reputation for providing high-quality dental care in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Fiona enjoys the variety that dentistry brings and believes that a positive experience at the dentist plays an important role in lifelong oral health. She takes the time to listen, explain treatment options clearly and help patients feel relaxed throughout their visit. Her gentle approach and attention to detail have earned the trust of generations of patients and families.
Alongside her clinical work, Fiona has made a significant contribution to the dental profession. She served as Secretary of the Waikato Bay of Plenty Branch of the New Zealand Dental Association from 2008 and, in 2024, was recognised as an Honorary Life Member in acknowledgement of her years of service. In the same year, she was also elected as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.
Outside the practice, Fiona enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She is a keen gardener and also enjoys skiing, walking and curling up with a good book.
