Patient Safety
Your health and safety are our highest priority
At Dental Excellence, we're committed to providing the highest standard of care in a safe, comfortable and professional environment.
From maintaining rigorous sterilisation procedures to investing in modern equipment and ongoing staff training, patient safety is at the heart of everything we do. We believe you should feel confident knowing you're receiving dental care that meets and exceeds current professional standards.
Medical history matters
Before treatment, we'll ask you to provide and regularly update your medical history. This information helps us deliver the safest and most appropriate care possible.
Many medical conditions, medications and previous treatments can influence dental care, which is why it's important that we have accurate and up-to-date information at every appointment.
By keeping your details current, you're helping us provide the very best care for you.
Emergency equipment and training
All of our clinical staff are trained in first aid and undertake regular resuscitation training.
Our practice is equipped with:
Emergency oxygen
An automated external defibrillator (AED)
Vital signs monitoring equipment
Emergency medications and equipment used during dental procedures and IV sedation
Our dentists are also trained in advanced airway management techniques, and our emergency equipment is regularly maintained and updated.
Infection prevention and sterilisation
Strict infection control procedures are followed throughout the practice to protect both our patients and our team.
Our clinical staff receive ongoing training in cross-infection control and the correct handling, cleaning and sterilisation of dental instruments and equipment.
We are committed to maintaining a sterile chain throughout every stage of treatment.
Instrument cleaning and sterilisation
All reusable dental instruments undergo a thorough cleaning and steam sterilisation process using hospital-grade autoclave technology.
Our sterilisation procedures include:
Ultrasonic cleaning of instruments where appropriate
Steam sterilisation (autoclaving)
Sterile storage of instruments until use
Daily monitoring and testing of sterilisation equipment
Regular servicing and validation of all sterilisation systems
Nothing intended for single use is ever reused.
Disposable equipment
Where practical, we use disposable clinical items, including gloves, masks, paper cups and hand towels to further minimise the risk of cross-infection.
Maintaining a clean clinical environment
After every appointment, all clinical surfaces and dental equipment are carefully cleaned and disinfected using products specifically designed for dental healthcare environments.
These procedures form part of our commitment to providing a safe and hygienic environment for every patient.
Our commitment to patient care
The systems and procedures we have in place reflect our commitment to delivering exceptional dental care in a safe and professional environment.
Maintaining these standards requires significant investment in staff training, equipment and infection control procedures, and these costs are incorporated into our practice fees. There are no additional charges for the measures we take to protect your health and wellbeing.
